Live Theatre – Resistance Radio
October 19 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
An event every day that begins at 7:30pm, repeating until October 21, 2017
The Mount Vernon Lisbon Community Theatre group is performing “Resistance Radio”.
Radio has been a part of our lives for almost a hundred years. Listening to news, music and sports is something many of us do every day. As a trusted source of information and entertainment, radio connects us to the world and feeds our imagination at the same time. Radio, like theatre, has always served as a vehicle for new ideas and new works of literature, presenting them to generations of radio audiences whose fears and concerns about their changing world were not that different from our own.
Join us as we recreate the Golden Age of Radio and present several classic broadcasts, including H. G. Wells’ War of the Worlds–first aired for Halloween in 1938–and a dramatization of Shirley Jackson’s 1948 short story, The Lottery. Be a part of the studio audience for MVLCT’s fall show, Resistance Radio, October 19, 20, and 21 at 7:30 PM in the First Street Community Center, 221 1st Street, Mt. Vernon.
COST: Tickets are $5.00 at the door for everyone.
Wearing vintage clothing is encouraged but not required.
